MAHALO LAURA AGAIN!!

 2013
Laura visited again this year with daughter Christina and best pal Walter.  They met us up at Kokee their second day on island.

Bird and plant hunting on Kaluapuhi Trail, many wild plums, not quite ripe yet.

We stopped by a friend's house above Sealodge Beach

Of course, we have to do Kilauea Point Refuge

Just a nice stroll on Wai Koa Loop after lunch at Common Grounds

2012
Laura was here in June (see late June post).  While Dick & Barb were willing to delay their trip to town in order to extend club aloha, Peter & Rosemary had already assured us steerage.

It did not go unnoticed. Laura and two friends paddled with the canoe rec group on Friday morning. Coming back in they caught a bump and got a huge kick out of it.

So, Laura, being who she is, went home and made arrangements for a really nice donation to Namolokama Canoe Club.  She is one in a million friend.

and so do the members you have yet to meet!

2011
I learned about the volunteer trip to Midway in 2009 when folks were getting ready to go. I expressed that I would like to do that and was put on the list for 2010.   It turns out that even though it is volunteer work, transportation to Midway is not covered and it is pricey, about $2500 per person, not in our budget. I was telling our friend Laura about it and she offered to sponsor us!   While that was a generous and sincere offer, we couldn't accept it.
What we finally came up with was the idea Laura would take over the timeshare we had at the Cliffs Club in Princeville and we banked the funds for the trip.  By then the plane was full and we were waitlisted, for 2010; no cancellations.
Now we were on the list for 2011 and here we go!   This is a win-win on our side of the page. We get to go on our adventure, Laura is guaranteed a vacation each year, and we get to see her every summer!
